Lipomas
Lipomas are common, benign skin growths caused by a collection of normal fat cells(adipocytes) under the skin. They are most common on the neck, trunk and arms, but can occur elsewhere on the body. Many patients develop more than one. They are usually painless but can cause some discomfort if they grow or press on nearby nerves and blood vessels. They do not typically require treatment, however if they become bothersome, outpatient surgical removal by a board-certified dermatologist can be performed.
