Long-term Glenwood Avenue closure starts Monday, July 15.

Starting Monday, July 15, Glenwood Avenue (County Road 40) will be closed between Lyndale Avenue and 11th Street in Minneapolis.

This closure is needed for Metropolitan Council to reconstruct the Glenwood Avenue Bridge over the Cedar Lake Regional Trail as part of the Southwest Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

Closure timing

Glenwood Avenue will be closed for approximately two years.

Getting around the closure

During the closure, the detour for people driving will use:

  • Lyndale Avenue
  • Olson Memorial Highway (Highway 55)
  • 7th/10th Street

The detour for people walking, rolling and biking will use:

  • Lyndale Avenue
  • 3rd Avenue
  • Border Avenue
  • Holden Street
  • Royalston Avenue

Access to local businesses within the closure area will be maintained.
